1. How was the process of adding graphics?

Part 1:
How do you feel after watching that video? I am glad that I got to watch the video since it gave me a perspective I’ve never considered before. As an average-height person, I now consciously recognize that the world is built for people of average height. Moving forward, I can use this knowledge as a citizen of the world to make the world more inclusive of all people. As a designer, what could be done to make experiences better for Sinéad? When designing, create structures that are accessible for people of different heights. Automated machines could be beneficial in this case. Often, when Sinead struggles in areas created surrounding people of average heights, she requires assistance from others to stay safe. However, there can be ways to ensure Sinead can stay safe and be able to thrive in public spaces with the use of machines (ex: platform that can take her to a higher height to reach items). When you think about how it is to experience life the way she does, what is that called? Empathizing Part 2 List 3 professional fields that are associated with UX design (there are more than just three) User research, Information architecture, and product design Who coined the now-ubiquitous term User Experience? Don Norman What did he study at MIT? Electrical engineering What is the name of his book, and the unofficial UX Bible? The Design of Everyday Things According to him, what are the two most important components of good design? Discoverability and understanding In your own words, please explain what affordances are? Affordances convey the function of objects to users without concrete directions. In your own words, please explain what signifiers are? Signifiers allow users to hear and see what options they have when interacting with objects or what an object is doing. What are these items called? forming the goal-> forming the intention-> specifying an action-> executing the action-> perceiving the state of the world-> interpreting the state of the world-> evaluating the outcome The seven stages of product design One objection to his work states that streamlining a product (i.e. removing obstacles to learning) can result in a lack of consciousness about said product’s true inner-workings, resulting in what? A “dumbing down” of user behavior. As a result, the interest in the product may quickly diminish. What man said: “You’ve got to start with the customer experience and work back toward the technology—not the other way around.” and why would that be important? Steve Jobs. If you do not have an idea of what the customers want before you create the technology, chances are you won’t be successful. This is because you may not cater to most customers if you evaluate their thoughts after the development of the product. Part 3: 2 apps that you think have great user experience and tell me why.
1. What is one thing that you learned from Chip Kidd?
Combining clarity and mystery is effective in conveying messages to readers in graphic design. 2. Would you like to do the same type of design as Chip, why or why not? I would like to do the same type of design as Chip since his style is unique, and it can be beneficial to get the message across easily to all people. It is direct, which makes it understandable, but it also has mystery, which leaves readers thinking. 1. Something new I learned was that while sometimes colors can seen randomly used, they often have deeper meanings as different colors and tones are associated with different emotions, traits, and things.
